Code of Conduct

betterclass comments are a place for real ESL teachers to share ideas, ask questions, and (respectfully) disagree with each other. This short code of conduct covers what “respectfully” means in practice.

1. Be respectful

Disagree with ideas, not people. Personal attacks, insults, and harassment aren’t allowed, no matter how strongly you feel about a topic.

2. Stay on topic

Keep comments relevant to the lesson or topic being discussed. Off-topic tangents make it harder for other teachers to find useful discussion.

3. No spam or self-promotion

Don’t post unrelated links, advertisements, or solicitation. If you’d like to share your own resources, reach out to us directly instead.

4. No hate speech or discrimination

Comments that attack people based on race, gender, religion, nationality, or similar characteristics aren’t allowed, full stop.

5. Keep it classroom-appropriate

Teachers reference these comments while prepping real lessons, so profanity and explicit content aren’t allowed here.

6. Don’t share personal information

That includes your own contact details and anyone else’s — comments are public and stay that way.

7. Enforcement

Comments that break these rules may be edited or removed. Repeat violations can result in losing commenting privileges on the site.
